Design was always in my blood.
Design was always in my blood.
From an early age my eyes were glued to the comic book section in the Sunday newspaper (aging myself?) and I found the challenge of drawing cartoon characters from memory exciting.
In high school, a visual communications elective set this whole thing in motion. The feeling I got working in a dimly lit computer lab on an artistic project was so exhilarating compared to algebra the period before. I found my creative path forward. Finding a profession that lights a fire within you early on is so uncommon. I really was lucky!

In 2016 my then-girlfriend (now wife!) and I moved to Washington, DC and I landed a position at a boutique design agency. I was immediately thrust into the hands-on nature of working at a small firm. It’s the best thing that could have happened to me and my professional trajectory.

I was challenged, earning trust, wearing many hats. Our design team was small so we all needed to swing big. I worked on things that I was good at and things that scared me and forced me to learn on the fly. I owe where I am to my early years at Fathom!
Since then I’ve led projects large and small, pitched concepts to clients, helped grow a design team, and so much more. Below are a few areas where I spread my metaphorical creative wings and fly.

Creating micro brands for events and other specific happenings has been a growing love. The challenge of pushing the creative boundaries on an established brand is one I welcome with open arms. It’s a fun exercise for all involved. I love the a-ha realizations that often come to light in these types of projects.

The realization that I could create artistic brand assets and designs for a living would make my younger self smile from ear to ear. In recent years I’ve embraced a more organic and hand-crafted approach to design when a project calls for it. Illustration and customized typography can take a project from zero to hero real quick.

What's next?
Currently I’m at a place where I want to push the boundaries of my creativity and be challenged. I pride myself on unearthing the ‘why’ behind any conceptual or creative projects. For me, it’s not enough to just look good. I want to build creative solutions that make an impact!
The idea of community and culture are also huge for me. I’m seeking a fit both professionally and culturally. I want to enjoy the team I’m surrounded by and want them to see and value me as a peer and friend.
Currently I’m at a place where I want to push the boundaries of my creativity and be challenged. I pride myself on unearthing the ‘why’ behind any conceptual or creative projects. For me, it’s not enough to just look good. I want to build creative solutions that make an impact!

When I'm not staring at a screen I enjoy quality time with family and friends, cooking with my wife, a long walk with my dog, a cold beer at the end of the day and good music to guide me through it all.
